By

Kazuya Fukuhara

One year has passed since the inauguration of the second Trump administration in January 2025. During this period, policy priorities in the transportation and tourism sectors have been substantially restructured. Full-scale negotiations over reciprocal tariffs, the enactment of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), and the longest government shutdown in U.S. history have generating concrete and direct impacts on aviation, maritime, rail and urban transport, and tourism.

This report provides a structured overview of major policy developments in the transportation and tourism sectors during the first year of the second Trump administration. By organizing developments by sector, it seeks to clarify the administration’s basic policy directions and to identify the key characteristics of its policy management.
